Rachel is an experienced bagpipe tutor and piper for hire based in Edinburgh.

A former bagpipe instructor and Pipe Major at James Gillespie’s High School, Rachel specialises in bagpipe lessons for children and groups. She was also formerly a bagpipe teacher and band instructor to the City of St Andrews and Cupar and District Pipe Bands in Fife and the Finger Lakes Pipes and Drums in New York, USA, giving her experience of working with large groups of mixed abilities and ages.

Rachel is a prize-winning solo player with vast experience of playing for weddings, parties and other special events. Between 2016 and 2018, Rachel was the piper to the Chancellor of the University of St Andrews, playing for graduations and numerous formal university events. She is also a former member of the National Youth Pipe Band of Scotland, a competitive auditioned group of Scotland’s best young pipers and drummers, and has 15 years of competitive pipe band experience, including playing in Grade 1, the top grade of pipe band competition. Rachel has played for high profile events and well-known celebrities both at home and around the world, becoming known for her excellent standard of playing, approachability and professionalism. Rachel is a multi-instrumentalist, also playing the beautiful Scottish smallpipes and low whistles, which can provide a quieter, mellow sound for indoor events.
